About Us
Where History Meets the Horizon
The Spirit of the Land Long before it was a ranch, this land was a sanctuary. Evidence of Native American encampments near Little Honey Branch Cave dates back centuries, where the shelter of the limestone bluffs and the pure spring water provided a natural haven. To this day, the air carries the same “nature’s spirit” that has welcomed travelers for generations.
Legends and Outlaws The rolling hills and deep caverns of the Ozarks have always held secrets. In the lawless era of the 1870s and 80s, the notorious Jesse James reportedly sought refuge within the shadows of Honey Branch Cave. He wasn’t alone; the legendary Bald Knobbers also used these massive, 20-foot-high passages as a stronghold and hideout.
From Pioneers to the Big Screen Our story is preserved in the very walls of the ranch, from restored cabins that allow you to live like an 1800s explorer to the inscriptions left by Sunday picnickers a century ago. Most recently, our landscape’s rugged beauty stood in for the Italian countryside in the 2023 WWII film Reveille, chosen specifically for its geological authenticity.
Our Mission Today Managed by SML, LLC, Ozark Ranch is more than just a destination; it is a commitment to “nature as nature intended”. We invite you to walk these 200 acres of wooded hills and create your own history among our streams, waterfalls, and ancient caves.
